5 Easy Things You Can Do to Up Your Social Media Presence (Like Right Now)

Written By: Lacey Hill

Whether you’re an up-and-coming brand using social media to build a following, or you’ve been around for a while and just want to establish a solid foundation, here are a few things you can do to set yourself up for success on social:

1. Review Your Metrics

Review your metrics so you have a base understanding of your performance and a good starting point for if these changes help. Look at what’s worked well for you in the past and see if you can identify any trends in what fans seem most interested in engaging with.

2. Streamline Your Brand Presence

Make sure you have a consistent, clear profile/header image for each social media platform you’re on, and that it’s easy for fans to identify your official brand page on each.

i.e. A fan can view your Facebook page and then easily locate you on Instagram or Twitter, because each page is consistent in style and branding. Additionally, just like a cluttered room in your home, a social media page can look messy with a ton of off-brand content. Clean house and get rid of any outdated or irrelevant content on your pages for a fresh start.

3. Post Purposeful, Brand-Relevant Content, Consistently

After you’ve cleaned house and evaluated what has been working for you, curate or create content that’s not only interesting, but relevant to your specific brand, service, or field. For instance, some businesses will share a viral video or meme simply because it’s funny and they want to share. This is great for your personal page, but not always best for a brand. If you find a viral trend you want to jump on, think of how you can make it relevant for you or your business. If it doesn’t work, that’s okay, there’s another trend just around the corner that might!

4. Request a Verification Badge ☑️

This will authenticate your page and let fans know they can trust that you are the official page for your brand. Here’s how to request on each major platform:

Facebook

Instagram

Twitter

5. Engage with Your Audience

One of the most important things you can do to solidify brand loyalty is just engage with your fans! People want to feel heard and love when their favorite brands or public figures interact with them. If you’re a larger brand, you’ll likely want to establish a response protocol, or if you’re THE Joe from Joe’s Diner, let fans know that’s who they’re speaking with, they’ll appreciate it!

With the pace of social media, it’s easy to believe that it’s all about “going viral”, and while that’s amazing (when it’s positive), it’s also about consistently being present and engaging. Doing each of these will establish a solid foundation to build brand loyalty on your social media pages.
